For most of us, referring to past learnings was not an option when we were posed with the challenge the world faces today. We have all been extremely concerned about the safety and well-being of our loved ones, which for all of us at The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), include our esteemed guests, associates, partners and other stakeholders. And as the world enters a new normal, we hope that you, and the ones you hold dear, are safe and healthy.
At IHCL, we have taken things positively and enriched the ways in which we have lived our promise of Tajness, a hallmark of our impeccable hospitality for over 116 years. With our brands, Taj, SeleQtions, Vivanta, Ginger and TajSATS, each an industry icon, the task for us is to not only keep this promise, but enhance it in a manner relevant to today's environment. The supreme importance we place upon your well-being and safety has been a critical driving factor in helping us formulate a comprehensive and trustworthy framework, embodying our renewed spirit of Tajness - A Commitment Restrengthened.
Developed in collaboration with some of the leading players in the field of safety and hygiene, this framework is representative of IHCL's augmented safety, hygiene and physical distancing standards. Created in accordance with the norms laid down by the World Health Organization (WHO), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Government of India, it reflects our assurance of safety and comfort for our guests and the well-being of our associates and partners.
Some of the concrete steps undertaken as a part of this assurance include:
■  Resting our rooms post check-outs and prior to reoccupation
■  Thermal screening of entrants and regular health-checks and counselling support for our associates
■  Mandating use of statutorily prescribed protective equipment, by our guests and associates
■  Use of digital technology for seamless check-ins, check-outs, payments and dining experiences
■  Use of proven disinfectants for regular and deep disinfection of all hotel areas
■  Remodelling of layouts and fixtures in our guest and service areas as per physical distancing norms
■  Extensive training of our associates in practicing safety, hygiene and physical distancing norms
IHCL, in line with Tata values, also takes pride in being of service to the community in these testing times. Through the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT) and in association with Tata Sons, IHCL has distributed over 1.65 million meals to healthcare providers across various cities in India and migrant workers in Mumbai. We are honoured to serve the frontline heroes (#MealsToSmiles). Select IHCL hotels across different cities have opened their doors for the medical fraternity. With this, we are humbled to be a small part of the nation's fight against COVID-19, and are committed to continue our efforts with the same fervour with which we serve our guests.
